The Importance of Responsibility

Hi everyone!

We finally and officially figured out today that Sarine was the first person to sign up on our blog, so I want to congratulate Sarine! Congratulations, you get the extra credit, and it will be counted in your upcoming progress report grade!

This week we discussed the importance of Responsibility and you all wrote wonderful essays explaining what Responsibility means to you. After watching today's video on that topic, please tell me which story you liked best : the story of Icarus, the boy who flew too high; the story of King Alfred; or the story of the old woman and her three children. Also, please discuss which one of the three stories best explained to you the importance of Responsibility. Why did you like that story more than the others?

Have a wonderful weekend!

  6. I liked the king Alfred story because when he knocked on the door this lady old him that she had to go get some milk so the king had to watch the cakes but she didn't know he was the king. when she left instead of taking care of the cake he remembered all his mistakes. When the lady returned the cakes were burnt so the lady started yelling at the king but when her brother walked in he told her that "you shall not yell at this man he is the king." then both of them got down on their knees and bowed to the king. the man should have been responsible of the cakes so is would not burnt that shows bad responsibility of the king

I think the story of king alfred explained responsibility the most because he was sopposed to watch the cakes so they dont burn, also just because he is a king doesnt mean he gets off the hook of burning the maidens cake. The stoey i liked was the one of icarus and his flight

  9. I like the story of the boy who flew too high because it teaches him a lesson that he shouldn't of flown to high by the sun. Also that the boy should have listened to his dad and do what he said. And if he did listen to his dad he wouldnt of died.

  10. i liked Icarus the boy who flew to high and drowned because he didn't listen to his father. the one that explained responsibility the most to me was the story about the king who forgot to take the cakes out before they burned because it was his responsibility to do it but he didn't do that responsibility.

  13. i liked the story of the boy that flew too high because it shows why you must be responsible or else you will get hurt, embarrassed, or in Icarus's case, you could die. i chose this story because as i said before it shows more responsibility. it also reminds me of a story I knew about my cousin. he was coming home from a club and was drunk. his parents told him not to drink and drive but, he got into a car accident and died. whenever i remember that story i always try to be responsible.

  15. I like the one that the boy flew to high because it makes you understand that if you don't listen to your parents bad things could happen for example my dads friends mom told my dads friend not to do wheelies on his motorcycle, but that same day he did he couldn't see the car and he hit it and flew off and died.

  18. I like the story of the boy who flew too high up in the sky because it teaches us the importance of responsibility and that we should always listen to the people who are older then us because they would know more from the more experience they have had.

  20. The story I liked most from the video was the one were the dad and the son flew because it was a good lesson. The dad and the son are trapped in a tower in crete were a king traped them in for the dads inventions. The saw the birds flying and there wings coming in through the window,he used those feathers to make a pair of wings for himself and his son. When he made a pair for himself and thought himself how to fly he made a pair for his son and thought his son how to fly. After they both knew how to fly they set off for Greece ,the dad warned the child so if he goes to low his wings will get wet and heavy and he won't be able to fly and if he goes to high the wax on the wings that keep the wings together will melt and he will fall. The son ignored the dads advise and went high enough were the wax on his melted and he fell and died in the ocean.A lesson that I learned from this story was that if your parents say something it's for your own good or there just trying to protect or direct you in the right direction.Like in the story the dad was trying to protect his dad from his doom.

  22. it showed that listening to others, such as your parents,is responsibility and so, the boy Icarus flew and the father said "no dont fly too close to the sun!" But Icarus still flew too close to the sun and wings wax melted and he died. This shows that you should always be responsible and listen to your parents.
