All Summer In a Day

Hi everyone!

Ready to start the long weekend? Before we all do that, let's think a bit about the story we read this week and the film version we watched in class. Who can point out some differences between the story, "All Summer In a Day" and the short film version we watched in class? Compare and contrast the story and the film. Which did you like better, the story or the film? Both? Why? Explain your answers.

Have a wonderfully, fun and safe weekend!

  1. The differences between the book and the movie are:
    1. The book was more realistic and interesting.
    2. The movie was a little different because there was a character that actually liked Margot.
    3. The ending was a little different because in the book Margot was upset because the children locked her in the closet and missed the sun. But in the movie they had gathered flowers to show that they were sorry.
I think I liked the book better becuase it used more detail. The book is always better to me becuase in the movies, usually at the end, they make something up that wasn't even in the book.

  2. The difference is that....
1:in the book when they made fun of her she didnt run to a different place, but in the movie she did and in the movie she made a project of Ohio.
2:The book finished when the let her out, the movie kept going on after that.
3:in the movie they said locking her in the closet was a joke.
I liked the book more because when I finished reading it I felt like there was more behind it, and it made we wonder.....

  3. I think the differences between the book and the movie are...
1- In the movie, like what alexia said, someone actually liked Margot, but in the story everyone kept messing with her.
2- In the movie the kids picked out flowers, but in the story, they started walking back to the tunnels when a lightning bolt startled them.
3- Also at the end William tried to give Margot flowers in the movie.
honestly, in general, like books better than the movie because with the book i can imagine what the setting and characters look like.

  5. the difference between the movie and the book is that.....

1.the book is more detailed and mentioned everything specificaly.

    2. In the movie, the ending goes on longer, like the book stopped at how the kids let margot out of the closet but in the movie it goes on longer.

    3. both in the book and in the movie, the kids lock margot in the closet but in the movie they kids as in william say that it was a joke.

I like the movie more because it is more longer so like the ending goes on longer because when you read the book you just want to know what will happen next so you wonder and then you flip the page you are like what were is continuation whats going to happen i wish i knew. So when you watch the movie you are like oh at least i got a little more information but the book is well written. but i just like the movie more because i just wanted to know a little more about the ending.

  7. 1.i like the book more because with the book i can imagine what is going on in the book in my head.

    2. in the book everyone hates and is jealous of Margot because she is from Earth. in the movie everyone except one girl are jealous of and hate Margot.

    3. in the movie they introduce new characters that were not in the book such as brain who is kind of like Williams side kick.

    4. in both the book and the movie they lock Margot in the closet. in the book they lock Marot in the closet by pushing her into it. and in the movie they lock her by throwing her sun kit into the closet and when she goes to retrieve it they lock the closet door on her.

1.in the book you cant SEE the characters

2.the movie has less info. and the book gives us more detail
I liked the book better even though the movie helped me visualize the story and understand how terrible it must be without the sun... lets hope earth doesn't get over populated because I love the sun.
