The Importance of Respect

Hello 6th Grade Students!

As you know, this month's Character Education word is "Respect." We all know how important it is to truly understand the meaning of respect. Based on the video we watched today and what you already know, please define the word "respect" in your own words. What does it mean to you? How do you show respect to others? (Parents, teachers, friends, even strangers). Do you require respect from others? If so, who? Include details in your answer.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. "Treat people the way you want to be treated.";) There are people out there that are treated with great respect but don't show it to their elders. If i could define "Respect" i would say is to be nice, polite and much more.. Respect is not only for kids its for everyone cause sometimes we all get out of hand. We get mad at each other. Sad, Cry and many more but the one thing we need is respect!

  3. i show respect to my teachers by following their classroom rules. also by not talking back to them when the teacher tells you to do something you should do it right away. My mom taught me to be respectful of anything that i get. Also there was a song on youtube that all of us last year watched which was about r-e-s-p-e-c-t

  4. Allways respect no matter who the guy is you should allways show respect. If you do not have any respect for him you should pretend you do or try to find a reson to respect him or her. Because in the end it will pay off.

  5. i think you should always be respectful no matter what.If it is a stranger and they say something nice to you, smile back or say some thing else that is nice and just show that you respect a lot of people. Respect means to be nice and not to be mean to others.

  7. I respect every person i meet because i don't like hurting peoples feelings right in front of their face and make them feel bad. 0also if people don't respect me, i still respect them because my mom always says, if some one slaps you on your cheek turn the other way, and don't say anything bad.The way i respect people older then me, i call them tantig or amo, and if they are my teacher i don't say sup homi like one of the 8th graders did. to strangers, if they don't say anything to me i don't say anything either, but if they say hi or something i do the same.

  8. To me the word "respect" means politeness. "Treat others the way you want to be treated" is a saying that comes to my mind when i think about respect also. you can always say "please" when asking for something from someone else. You can also say "thank you" to someone when they do something nice or helpful to you or for you.

  9. I think if you don't respect other people, they won't respect you back. To me it means to be nice to someone because they're in very high places in life.
